Nestled in the scenic surroundings of Saint James, NY, our brewery is dedicated to blending traditional brewing techniques with local flavors, and Myrtille is a prime example of this commitment.

Named after the French word for blueberry, Myrtille is a nod to the rich, European brewing traditions that inspire our craft, while also celebrating the unique, vibrant flavor of Long Island blueberries. We use select grains grown in New York State and hops from Long Island, alongside our proprietary yeast, to create a beer that’s not just refreshing but also rich in the character of its origins.

What Is Belgian Beer

Belgian beer is not just a drink; it's a cultural heritage, renowned worldwide for its diversity, quality, and distinctive brewing techniques. Rooted in a tradition that dates back to the Middle Ages, Belgian beer offers a rich tapestry of flavors and styles that reflect its deep historical roots and the innovative spirit of its brewers.

Belgium boasts several unique beer styles, including Trappist ales, which are brewed in monasteries, and strong golden ales known for their pale color and high carbonation. There are also lambics, made using spontaneous fermentation that incorporates wild yeasts and bacteria native to the Zenne valley. Another favorite is the dubbel, a malty, yeasty ale with notes of dark fruit, and the tripel, known for its pale color and strong, spicy character.

What sets Belgian beers apart is their complex fermentation process, often involving multiple strains of yeast, and in some cases, additional bottle conditioning. This allows for a depth of flavor that is hard to find in other beer traditions, marked by a balance of sweetness, bitterness, and often a hint of spice or fruitiness.

The presentation of Belgian beer is also a key aspect of its enjoyment. Each beer type is typically served in its own specially designed glass that enhances its flavor profile and aesthetic appeal. Whether enjoyed in a bustling Belgian pub or at home, these beers are savored slowly, allowing drinkers to fully appreciate their complex aromas and flavors.

Belgian beer is a testament to the country's history and its ongoing innovation in brewing. It invites connoisseurs and casual drinkers alike to explore a world of taste that extends far beyond the ordinary.
